The Amarillo Lone Stars, who don’t actually exist but are playing out a season on Facebook anyways, opened their fake season today and HOTSPROTSTAKES.com’s Ronnie “The Snake Charmer” Balasko lent a hand in what turned out to be a thrilling come-from-behind win for the home Lone Stars!
The Lone Stars entered the 9th down 6-0 to the visiting Trinidad Triggers, as Trinidad starter Joe Baliga had tossed a four-hitter to that point.
In the 9th with two outs and nobody on, “The Snake Charmer” came to the plate and lifted what should have been the game’s final out, but it was dropped by Trinidad center fielder Gene Hurych, giving the Lone Stars new life.
Baliga then lost control and his defense behind him, as a combination of three errors and two walks allowed Amarillo to trim the lead to 6-5.
With two on and two out, Nobody (it’s a player on the roster) stepped to the plate and belted the first pitch of the at-bat over the wall in center for an 8-6 walk-off win.
The rally made winner out of Dewy Best for the Lone Stars, while Baliga, despite giving up just five hits and no earned runs, was saddled with the loss.
And in case you thought I was making all this up, here is the post from the Lone Stars Facebook page:
The win makes the Amarillo Lone Stars 1-0.
