Lone Stars topple Triggers, 12-6, to start 3-0

Lone Stars

This is an ongoing series as HOTSPROTSTAKES.com follows along with the Amarillo Lone Stars for their entire 68-game schedule. The Amarillo Lone Stars are not real, the games are not real, yet, someone decided to play a full season of pretend games on Facebook. We even made the team. Check back daily for game recaps!

The Amarillo Lone Stars never trailed Friday afternoon, using eight runs over the fifth and sixth innings to move to 3-0 following a 12-6 win over the host Trinidad Triggers.

The Lone Stars jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first with a single run, which the Triggers answered in the bottom half of the inning. Amarillo regained the lead for good in the second with another run, then blew the game open in the middle innings.

After tallying three times in the fifth, the Lone Stars put the game out of reach with five runs in the sixth to stretch the lead to 10-1. Why (a player’s name) had the big blow in the inning, a two-run home run, while I Don’t Give A Darn (another player) added a two-run single of his own.

Amarillo finished with 12 hits in the win, with What (again, another player) collecting three hits, including a double, and a walk.

Trinidad attempted to get back into the game with a run in the bottom of sixth and four in the seventh to trim the lead to 10-6, but two Amarillo runs in the top of the ninth removed any doubts about the outcome.

Dizzy Dennis (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for Amarillo, tossing six innings, fanning five and walking just one batter. Matt Horan was saddled with the loss for the Triggers, who drop to 0-3 on the season with the loss.

The Lone Stars and Triggers will conclude their four-game set to open the season tomorrow before the Lone Stars head to Garden City, Kansas four another four-game series.

Here is the daily screen grab to prove we did not make any of this up:

The Lone Stars are now 3-0 on their pretend season.

HOTSPROTSTAKES.com’s Ronnie “The Snake Charmer” Balasko again did not play, his season line remains: .000/.000/.000, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R.
