Game 6: War hero throws perfect game for Amarillo Lone Stars on Memorial Day

Lone Stars

This is an ongoing series as HOTSPROTSTAKES.com follows along with the Amarillo Lone Stars for their entire 68-game schedule. The Amarillo Lone Stars are not real, the games are not real, yet, someone decided to play a full season of pretend games on Facebook. We even made the team. Check back daily for game recaps!

This is getting ridiculous, but if you’re playing a season of pretend games for a team that doesn’t actually exist, why go all-in on it?

Making a spot start for starter Dewy Best, who came down ill as game-time neared, Tom Creek, who served in the military in addition to his pro baseball career, made a spot start and was perfect for the Amarillo Lone Stars in a 2-0 win over the visiting Garden City Wind.

Creek set down all 27 batters in order to complete the first perfect game in Amarillo minor league history.

Creek dueled with Wind starter Sal Maglie, who took the loss despite allowing just five hits and three runs, with three shutout innings before the Lone Stars broke through with the only run they needed in the bottom of the fourth on a home run by Lone Stars center fielder, Because (player name).

The Lone Stars added another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 2-0, making the only drama if Creek could get the final nine outs.

He did, setting off a wild celebration at the mound that saw Creek get tackled by Today (the Amarillo catcher) before he was carried off the field.

Again, if you think we are making this up, here is the daily screengrab to show that this is all “real.”

Game6

The Amarillo Lone Stars are now 6-0 and will put their perfect record on the line Tuesday with another game at home against the Garden City Wind.

HOTSPROTSTAKES.com’s Ronnie ā€œThe Snake Charmerā€ Balasko again did not play, his season line remains: 1GP, .000/.000/.000, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R.

Check back for another game tomorrow!
