Amarillo Lone Stars pitching corrals Alpine Cowboys offense in 4-2 win

Lone Stars

This is an ongoing series as HOTSPROTSTAKES.com follows along with the Amarillo Lone Stars for their entire 68-game schedule. The Amarillo Lone Stars are not real, the games are not real, yet, someone decided to play a full season of pretend games on Facebook. We even made the team. Check back daily for game recaps!

Sorry your daily Amarillo Lone Stars post is a day late, but it was my birthday yesterday and I was out having dinner and drinks instead, plus my Wi-Fi was spotty.

Anyways, on with the game recap!

Amarillo Lone Stars starter Jim Bouton and reliever Roger Simonson combined to allow only five hits to the Alpine Cowboys, leading Amarillo to a 4-2 win to improve Amarillo’s record to 9-0.

The Lone Stars put up all the runs they needed in the bottom of the second when they tallied three times behind just one hit.

I Don’t Give a Darn (that’s a player) led the inning off with a walk, and was followed by a single from What (another player) to put runners at the corners. Bouton then helped his own cause by reaching on an error that brought home the game’s first run and put runners at second and third.

The Lone Stars then recorded back-to-back fielder’s choice outs, bringing home What and Bouton for the 3-0 lead.

Alpine countered with runs in the third and fourth innings to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Lone Stars added a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-2 and to end the scoring.

Bouton improves to 2-0 on the year with the win, while Simonson picks up his first save of the season.

As always, here is the screengrab to show we didn’t make this up:

Game9
