This is an ongoing series as HOTSPROTSTAKES.com follows along with the Amarillo Lone Stars for their entire 68-game schedule. The Amarillo Lone Stars are not real, the games are not real, yet, someone decided to play a full season of pretend games on Facebook. We even made the team. Check back daily for game recaps!
Folks, we apologize for the lack of Amarillo Lone Stars coverage here lately, life and other things tend to get in the way and due to all the cuts in media lately we couldn’t afford to have a second person following the Lone Stars during the 12 games we missed.
But we’re back today, and during those 12 games we missed, the Lone Stars kept up their winning ways, reaching 20-0. Could they make it 21-0 Tuesday night against the Roswell Invaders? Let’s find out!
After two-and-a-half innings it looked like the visiting Invaders might put an end to Amarillo’s perfect start, jumping out to a 4-0 lead behind two runs in both the second and third innings.
But then the Lone Stars’ bats came to life, putting up three in the bottom of the third on a three-run home run by Today (a player on the team) to cut the Roswell lead to 4-3, then tallying single runs in the fourth and fifth for a 5-4 lead.
The Invader knotted the game up with a run in the sixth, before Amarillo countered with a run of their own to make it 6-5 in favor of Amarillo heading to the seventh.
The Invaders struck twice in the top of the seventh to retake the lead, 7-6, but again Amarillo was up to the challenge, striking three times in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-7 lead.
The score remained that was until the top of the ninth when Roswell pulled to within 9-8, and loaded the bases. But Amarillo closer Daffy Donnie struck out Remy DeAza to end the game and keep the Lone Stars winning streak in tact.
Dick Risenhoover picked up his third win of the year for Amarillo, while Mike Deletto took the loss for Roswell.
As always, here is the screengrab to show we didn’t make this up:
The Amarillo Lone Stars are now 21-0 and will host the Roswell Invaders in another game tonight!
HOTSPROTSTAKES.com’s Ronnie “The Snake Charmer” Balasko again did not play, and over those 12 games we missed he appeared in one game, drawing a walk and scoring a run. His season line is now: 2GP, .000/.500/.000, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R.
Check back for another game tomorrow!
