Minor league indoor football team scores 95 in regulation, loses anyway

One of the appeals of indoor football at any level is that the game is wide open, and is amazingly tilted towards helping the offense, even more than the NFL.
Sunday afternoon in Champions Indoor Football, two teams went all out, combining for 191 total points, more than 650 combined passing yards, and more than 800 yards of combined offense. Oh and a ton of kicks returned for touchdowns. Continue reading Minor league indoor football team scores 95 in regulation, loses anyway

Team that lets fans call plays wants an entire league based on that idea

The owners of the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles and Colorado Crush, made notable for their decision this season to let fans decide almost everything, are apparently looking to start up an entire indoor football league based on that same idea. The best minor league indoor football team names you submitted

Yesterday I posted one of those stupid, “Your X and your Y is your Z” posts on Twitter, that somehow took off and ended up getting hundreds of responses.

My post was, “Your least favorite city and an animal you think you could take in a fist fight is the name of your minor league indoor football franchise.”

Salt Lake Screaming Eagles letting fans vote on team signing Greg Hardy

In minor league indoor football, you do whatever you can to make news and get attention, which potentially leads to fans in the arena on gameday.

The Salt Lake Screaming Eagles are the poster child for this sort of things, being run as a “fan”chise where fans make all the decisions, including what uniforms the team will wear, and what plays the team will run during the game.

That fan power has now extended to what players they will sign, as the team apparently has reached a deal with serial domestic abuser Greg Hardy, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys.

Here’s a minor league indoor football rumor I desperately want to be true

One of my favorite things about minor league indoor football isn’t so much the quality of play or seeing former D1 players slum it out in those leagues, but the crazy stories that come with these leagues.

The players make very little money, leagues fold and form up every year, teams fold, move, or re-open every year, and with it comes a lot of crazy stories.

One of my favorites was a team who paid its coach one cent on his last paycheck. Another was a quarterback from San Jose State traveling to the midwest and signing with two teams, only to learn that both had folded once he got there.

Today, I have a great rumor that I really want to be true. And I stress, ***THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR***, and I have no real proof of this being true.
